Nylon Cable Gland (CAGL) – IP68 Waterproof Cable Fixing & Protection
Nylon Cable Glands (CAGL) are premium cable management components designed to securely fix and protect cables entering electrical enclosures. Manufactured from high-quality, UL-certified Nylon 66 (94V-2) for the body and locknut, and featuring durable NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) seals and gaskets, these glands provide a robust barrier against dust, water, and oil penetration.
With an innovative clamp design that offers a wide clamping range and excellent tensile strength, CAGL cable glands ensure effective cable protection and strain relief. Achieving an IP68 protection rating (when used with the included washer), they are the ideal solution for demanding indoor and outdoor industrial environments, operating reliably across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +100°C.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Do I need additional sealing for the threads in harsh or wet environments?
A: While the NBR gasket and locknut provide a standard IP68 seal, for extreme conditions, irregular cable jackets, or outdoor applications, wrapping the cable entry point tightly with our Vinyl Electrical Tape before tightening the gland can provide an excellent extra layer of moisture, dust, and corrosion protection.
Q: How should I manage the cables inside the enclosure after they pass through the gland?
A: Once the cables are securely fixed and sealed, it is best practice to organize them neatly to maintain airflow and ease of future maintenance. We highly recommend using our heavy-duty Nylon Cable Ties to bundle, route, and secure the wires efficiently inside the distribution box or control panel.
Q: What is the best way to protect the cable jacket from abrasion before it enters the gland?
A: For cables exposed to sharp metal edges, constant vibration, or harsh outdoor environments, we recommend adding an outer protective layer. Our PET Expandable Braided Sleeving is an excellent choice to provide superior cut-through and abrasion resistance to the cable jacket right before it enters the nylon cable gland.
Q: How do I ensure I select the correct cable gland size?
A: Measure the outer diameter (O.D.) of your cable. The O.D. must fall between the “Min” and “Max” values in the “Cable Range” column for your chosen thread size. For optimal sealing, the cable O.D. should be closer to the middle or upper end of that range.
Q: Can these glands be used with armored cables?
A: Yes, but proper preparation is crucial. Ensure that the armor wires are properly grounded and that any sharp armor edges are smoothed or covered with a stress-control mastic tape before sliding the gland over them. This prevents the sharp metal edges from puncturing the NBR seal during installation.
